- One (1) hour of instruction regarding Rules/Laws (Recently Updated)
- Two (1) hours of instruction regarding Roadway Safety
- One (2) hour of instruction regarding Towing Industry Related Topics (Towing Techniques, Incident Management, Customer Services and Documentation
Texas Towing Operators License Renewal and Continuing Education Requirements
To renew a towing operator license, a licensee must complete a total of 4 hours of continuing education through Department-approved courses, which must cover the following topics below
(1) Texas law and rules that regulate the conduct of towing operators;
(2) roadway safety;
(3) driver safety;
(4) towing techniques;
(5) equipment operation and safety; and
(6) customer service and documentation.
To renew an Incident Management (IM) towing operator license for the first (1st) time, a licensee must complete, in lieu of the continuing education, a professional development course relating to towing that consists of eight (8) hours of training.
